The Best Way to Lose Fat

I have no magic pill to suggest and no special move for you that will help you lose weight quickly.  The best way to lose weight is habit change.  The process is very simple but you have to be ready to make the transition so here we go…..

1. Track your habits.  When I have to make a habit change I’ll track my habits for two full weeks.  I do this because I know that every typical situation in my life will happen within those two weeks and I can get a better gauge of how, when, where, and why I do my habit.  Then from there I know my triggers and what sets my habit off.

2. Choose one habit to work on.  As the saying goes if you try to chase one rabbit you will catch one, if you try to chase two rabbits you will catch none.  After your tracking period tackle the easiest habit first then work to the hardest.  For instance for me, I love sugary foods and I also love to eat a lot.  So I cut out my sugar first for a full month which was easier for me than cutting back on the amount of food then worked on cutting back on calories.  It was a much more productive way for me to learn how manage my eating.  Take the time to figure out what works and what doesn’t.  And if you fall off then get back on and try again.  When I was learning my new habits there were more than a few times that I caved and ate sugar, but by the end of my month I had learned how not to eat it and deal without it (which is huge for me).

3. Last but not least workouts.  Working out and exercising will not only help you lose weight more quickly but also keep you healthy (lets not forget about health).  Weight training is a great way to help increase your metabolism and when you do pull off that weight you’ll look great!  If you don’t know how to weight lift then hire a trainer or watch YouTube videos.  Another thing I love is HIIT which is High Intensity Interval Training you can use this with your cardio or your weight training.  For example I will walk on an incline for 1 minute then do 1 minute of jump roping.  The easiest way to explain is its anything that you would do a 1:1 ratio of  100% intensity to 50% intensity level.  HIIT helps to burn fat but keep your muscle and burn a lot of calories while you’re doing it.  HIIT is one of my most favorite things to do with my clients and myself.

Losing weight is very simple so simple that we tend to over think it.  Honestly if you follow these steps you’ll be in great shape by the time a full year roles around and you won’t even be burnt out or have rebounded from your initial weight loss.  Losing weight and keeping it off is the name of the game and doing it more slowly, and taking time to learn the new habits is really going to make all the difference in the world. Please leave a comment I would love to know what you think or your how you lost weight!

PS: I try to keep these posts short and sweet.  No need to bog you down with all sorts of technical info or other things that could make it all seem harder than what it actually is.  If you have having a problem with a habit change, email me and I can help to give you ideas about how to fix it.
